Char Dham Yatra by Helicopter from Dehradun

A helicopter turns a 10-day road journey into six days, with most of the long hill drives replaced by short flights between helipads near each shrine. It suits pilgrims with limited time or limited walking ability. Because seats are limited and schedules depend on the weather, we confirm your seats only once the operator confirms them.

What does a Char Dham helicopter package cost?

In 2026, shared-seat Char Dham helicopter packages from Dehradun were generally priced between about ₹1.8 lakh and ₹2.9 lakh per person, depending on the operator, the date and the hotels. Prices for 2027 are set when operators publish their schedules, usually in early spring. We share the exact price, operator name and flight plan in writing before you pay anything.

  • Every passenger is weighed. There is a body weight limit per seat, above which an extra charge applies.
  • Baggage is limited to a small soft bag per person. Main luggage stays at the Dehradun hotel.
  • Flights operate only in clear weather, usually in the morning. Keep a spare day after the yatra.
  • Infants, pregnant pilgrims and passengers with certain medical conditions may need a fitness certificate.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Char Dham helicopter yatra start?

From the Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun, about 45 minutes from Jolly Grant airport.

What happens if a flight is cancelled due to weather?

Flights resume when the weather clears. Extra hotel nights are usually at your cost, which is why we recommend a buffer day and travel insurance.

Can senior citizens take the helicopter yatra?

Yes. It is the easiest way for older pilgrims to complete all four dhams. Some walking is still needed at Yamunotri and Kedarnath, and ponies or palkis are available.

Is the helicopter yatra available in 2027?

Operators announce 2027 schedules and fares in spring, a few weeks before the shrines open. Send us your dates and we will hold your place in the queue.
